Primary Pinion Shaft Oil Seal for FTC5303 Gearbox

The Primary (Input) Shaft Seal for mechanical 5-speed gearboxes Land Rover series R380 and LT77. It is installed in the front cover of the gearbox (inside the release bearing guide sleeve)

Responsibilities:

• Retaining oil inside the gearbox: The main function of the seal is to tightly fit against the rotating primary shaft, preventing transmission oil from leaking out of the gearbox casing.
• Clutch protection: Reliable sealing of this assembly is critically important, as the shaft directly exits into the clutch bell housing. If the seal wears out, transmission oil gets onto the clutch disc and basket

Signs of malfunction and wear of FTC5303:

When this seal deteriorates due to age or the friction edge wears out, the following symptoms appear:

• Oil leakage: Drops of oil appear at the gearbox and engine junction (bottom of the clutch housing).
• Clutch slipping: If oil gets onto the friction linings of the clutch disc, it starts slipping during acceleration under load (engine revs increase, but the car does not accelerate).
• Juddering on take-off: The oiled clutch engages unevenly, causing the car to noticeably vibrate or judder at the start of movement
