Along with many other products we manufacture, all AlliSport intercoolers come with a lifetime warranty - we are so confident that this is the best Defender intercooler available today. Our 2020-Pro version, often imitated but never improved, has been reviewed and improved with a more powerful version. design and improved airflow. This version, which is significantly larger and more efficient than the original corrugated end tank design, which is prone to corrosion and cracking, has developed this version with larger pipe connections to provide greater flow for larger engines. Easy to install on the original radiator - only very minor modifications are required. Also suitable for vehicles equipped with air conditioning. Each unit undergoes final pressure testing over 30 pounds per square inch under water before being date-ready and packaged for worldwide shipping.

During our design process, we tested the product at pressures exceeding 120 pounds per square inch without any failures. This core size is capable of cooling over 600 hp, as confirmed on our World Rally Cross, Rally Raid, and Gymkhana customer cars. We conceived our original design in early 1999 on one of the first TD5 Defenders that was modified (which, by the way, still uses its original intercooler!)

Now, fully developed on Solid Works, with laser-cut end tanks and mounting brackets, CNC machined and TIG welded individually by hand at home. Our design uses high-quality sheet metal end tanks from the 5000 series, folded from a single piece to avoid cracking. This design is lighter and more efficient than heavy cast models on the market. Less weight means better heat dissipation, as less material acting as an insulator means less heating and better recovery time between boost cycles. Although we specialize in manufacturing intercoolers for over two decades, we conducted independent testing of our design in the UK compared to various market designs, including heavy cast designs from the UK and around the world.

This independent testing consists of a program of rigorously controlled tests including heat dissipation, efficiency, recovery, high pressure testing cycles, pressure drop, charged air flow, and air flow over the core outside. Results are obtained from the average of at least 10 measurements per station.

You will notice that all our intercoolers are made of plain aluminum without coating. This is because any coating acts as an insulator, thus reducing efficiency, plus we pride ourselves on the finish of our products and have no need to cover up any poor finish! We have spent a lot of time ensuring that these intercoolers are easy to install; a simple replacement for all Defender Td5, 2.4 and 2.2 Tdci models with or without air conditioning.

Increased cooling power together with proper electronic tuning typically allows for at least a 45% increase in power with a corresponding increase in torque. Fuel economy is improved on average by 10% due to reduced thermal load on the cylinder head. Thermal stress is actually reduced as EGT or combustion temperature drops sharply. Power and torque can be further increased with special turbochargers and enhanced airflow products.
